14th Swiss Symposium Thermal Energy Storage

Save the date: Friday, 29 January 2027

The 14th Swiss Symposium Thermal Energy Storage will take place on Friday, 29 January 2027 at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) in Horw.

This year’s theme is:

The Heat Is On – How technology and politics can accelerate thermal energy storage implementation

Thermal energy storage is gaining momentum in Switzerland. New technologies are being developed, large-scale projects are moving forward, and the role of storage in an increasingly renewable and electrified energy system is becoming more important.

SSTES 2027 looks at what is needed to accelerate this development – from political and regulatory frameworks to technological innovation, pilot projects and real-world applications. Perspectives from research, industry, utilities and public authorities will come together to discuss how thermal energy storage can move faster towards broad implementation in Switzerland and beyond.
