Case study 1: District heating network in Les Ponts de Martel (Neuchâtel)

Within WP07, a small rural District Heating Network (DHN) in “Les Ponts de Martel (Neuchâtel)” has been studied. This DHN feeds more than 80 substations and delivers around 6 GWh of heat annually. Heat is provided by two wood chips boilers with flue gas condenser. An optimized substation architecture is used to limit the forward and return temperatures. Collected data was used to rank the performances of the 80+ substations. Two critical substations show a significant potential for DHN return temperature reduction. An audit of these two substations will help to understand the reasons for their low performances compared to others.
