Knowledge and Technology Transfer are essential to connect research and practice. With this in mind, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, in cooperation with “Energie Schweiz” and “IWB Basel”, established the new training course “CAS Thermische Netze” in 2021.
The demand has been large and the feedback positive. Therefore a yearly execution is foreseen in the future. The course, among others, includes the findings of the SFOE funded program “Thermische Netze” as well as outcomes from “SCCER-FEEB&D”. Results from the SWEET-DeCarbCH program, in particular WP03, will be continuously integrated.
The CAS Thermal Networks provides an overview of the basics of thermal networks, both from a technical and non-technical point of view. The CAS thus enables project managers to evaluate suitable conceptual approaches for the grid-bound supply of heat and cold to buildings and regions.
The transferred knowledge includes theoretical and practical considerations as well as socio-economic aspects, including marketing, law and risk assessment for implementing projects in the municipal and cantonal environment. For a high degree of applicability, experts from the energy supplier IWB Basel have contributed to designing the course. As a result, the participants of the CAS obtain the competence for a sustainable and well-founded evaluation of energy management projects in the field of thermal networks.
