The new project “Positive Energy Districts as a Suitable Instrument to Govern the Swiss Energy Transition” (PEDSET), funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in the framework of the COST Action on Positive Energy Districts, is schedule to start in early 2022 and will include two DeCarbCH research partners, the University of Geneva and ZHAW.
Led by HES-SO, the project takes an interdisciplinary approach combining
- technology,
- social,
- policy, and
- business perspectives
to investigate the role of Positive Energy Districts and related concepts in the Swiss and European energy transition.
This project presents interesting synergies with DeCarbCH.
While heating and cooling are only one aspect of energy in districts, the Positive Energy District concept and district heating solutions share several key challenges, such as the need for coordination between multiple actors with possibly competing interests, or the pursuit of a system-level goal.
Therefore, the analytical concepts and solutions developed in one project may be further refined and adapted in the other.
