Socio-Economic Challenges for district heating networks: research methodology and expected results, presentation given by Matthias Speich (ZHAW)
For a timely decarbonization of the heating and cooling supply, current measures are insufficient. Various non-technical problems obstruct the development and modernization of thermal grids and clean industrial process supplies:
- lack of awareness and specific know-how,
- mismatch between societal and customer value proposition,
- competing interests of different actor groups, as well as
- economic and regulatory uncertainty.
Such problems often cannot be tackled by a single organization, but require orchestrated collaboration between various actors from the public and private sectors. We introduce a framework for analyzing relevant innovation ecosystems and coordinating business model innovation.
